1. Smith Westerns at Hard Rock Hotel, 12/2

This buzzy local band plays a free (really!) show this Friday as part of the Vitamin Water/Do312.com Holiday Show. They'll be back in early February for a (not free) show at the Metro, but why wait when admission and drinks are free from 9-11pm? You must rsvp to attend, and be 21+. RSVP at www.smithwesternsmusic.com

2. Jersey Shore: The Musical at Studio BE, 12/2-3

This is the last weekend to catch your favorite guilty pleasure onstage. Even if this was meant to be taken totally seriously (which it isn't), it would still be horrendously laughable. But through the run of this Jerseylicious spectacle, the reviews have ensured it's better than the MTV train wreck. Visit www.studio-be.org for tickets and info.

3. The Killabits and Figure at Bottom Lounge, 12/2

This bass duo, part of this week's electronica track of the week with Zed's Dead on "Bassmentality," play a 18+ show with Figure and Ruckus on their Tour of Horror. If you're looking to do dubstep in a way that won't require you to finagle through a huge, crowded venue or make your own mau5 head, this is your shot. Check out www.bottomlounge.com for info and tickets.

4. The Interview Show at the Hideout, 12/2

Interview Show host Mark Bazer keeps the laughs coming with this monthly talk show series. This week's show includes brother/sister duo White Mystery, novelist Alex Shakar and founder of Coudal Partners, Jim Coudal. Best part? This buzz worthy show is a mere $8. Check out www.markbazer.com for info.

5. 32nd Annual Champagne Festival at Geja's Café, 12/4

The festival, which lasts from December 1 through February 29, celebrates, what else, champagne and wine at this classy, romantic Lincoln Park fondue café. This Sunday, the café offers a wine tasting open to the public for $30 a head. This event will include a performance by the renowned Chicago opera singer, Laura Bonetti. Cheers! Visit www.gejascafe.com for more info.

6. One of a Kind Show and Sale at Merchandise Mart, 12/1-3

Holiday shopping can never come around too early, huh? The 11th annual installment of this shopping bazaar will hopefully make that holiday shopping list shrink. More than 650 North American artists and designers will show off and sell their work at this event. Stop by to pick up some unique photography, jewelry, paintings, sculptures, clothes, furniture and more at the always classy Merchandise Mart. Visit www.oneofakindshowchicago.com for info.

7. Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind at the Neo-Futurarium, 12/2-4

This now legendary and world-famous show celebrates its anniversary shows this weekend. The crazy concept of the show has the handful of actors onstage doing 30 plays in 60 minutes. The audience interaction is high, the plays are ever-so current and the order of the plays is completely dependent on what the crowd says. It's impossible not to have a good time, an anniversary should only make the experience greater. Visit www.neofuturists.org for more info.
