1. IAMDYNAMITE at House of Blues

Saturday, Oct. 8.

 

The indie-rock two-piece from Raleigh will be performing in support of their new album Supermegafantastic (released Sept. 13 on Brando Records) with Blue October. 2. Facets Fright School at Facets

3. The Second City's Outreach & Diversity at Donny's Skybox Theatre

9pm every Saturday through Dec. 3.

4. Oktoberfest at Navy Pier

Thursday, Oct. 6 through Monday, Oct. 10.

This is cover-free? And it goes from 11am to 10pm (with a Sunday and Monday night exception)? Happy October, indeed. See the German festivities at the South end of the Pier, which include food and drink vendors, merch, live music, and servers decked out in, what else, lederhosen. 5. The Naked and Famous at the Metro

These buzz worthy, New Zealand indie, electropop shoegazers grace the beloved and intimate Metro stage with The Chain Gang of 1974 and White Arrows. The five-piece is supporting their 2010 release, "Passive Me, Aggressive You." Tickets available through www.metrochicago.com.

 


 

6. First Fridays at the Flat Iron Fine Arts Building

Friday, Oct. 7.

This monthly art event showcases works of more than a hundred local artists and galleries all housed in one, three-story building at that delightfully chaotic Wicker Park North/Damen/Milwaukee intersection. Get there before 8pm, and you'll score first dibs on the free snacks in some galleries. Enjoy the occasional live musicians throughout the night as well. 7. The Theatre School presents INTIMATE APPAREL at the Merle Reskin Theatre

Thursday, Oct. 6 through Sunday, Oct. 9.
