The hard fought end to the women's soccer game Sunday came in the first two minutes of overtime by Illinois State University's Rachel Tejada goal ending the match 4-3.

Tejada, a freshman, completed her hat trick in golden goal overtime, taking her season total to 8 goals in 5 games and ISU's record to 3-2-0.

Despite the loss, it was all Blue Demons (0-5-0) for most of the first half with two shots in the first nine minutes and most of the first half spent in ISU territory.

The first goal of the match came in the 24th minute by Tejada, cooling off the Blue Demon's momentum. Tejada scored her second in the 35th minute putting ISU up 2-0.

Tejada's goals didn't quiet DePaul's student section, however, which had everything from a drum to a Vuvzela boosting the women's team on.

Amber Paul, DePaul's sophomore midfielder, broke the Blue Demon silence in the 40th minute. Her goal off a corner kick snuck past in a packed net.

DePaul started the second half in control just like the first with two blocked shots in the 46th minute, and it was 8 minutes into the half before Paul tied it up with her second goal of the game on a header off the corner kick. And until about 15 minutes into the half, it was all DePaul.

An aggressive legal tackle stopped the clock in the 60th minute and took ISU's Aimee Wronski off the field, but she later returned.

A goal in the 74th minute by ISU senior Mary Sahm put ISU up 3-2. But 10 minutes from full time, DePaul equalized by sophomore forward Ashleigh Goddard.

Despite some late opportunities for ISU, the gamed headed to overtime at 3-3. Golden goal regulation was enforced and Tejada scored a goal just two minutes into the first 10-minute OT, giving ISU the 4-3 win over DePaul and Tejada a hat trick for the game.

The Blue Demon's next matchup is on the road at Loyola on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m.
