A 3-story Lakeview apartment building caught on fire and spread to another building on Aug. 27. Two firefighters were injured while putting out the fire and taken to the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in fair condition.
The fire began when it engulfed two back porches and then rose up the building, igniting the interior of the building in the 800 block of West Cornelia Avenue.
Almost 100 residents were displaced as a result of the fire. No civilians were injured in the fire.
The Center on Halsted and Caribou Coffee created a donation bank to help the victims of the fire.
All photos were taken with a cell phone.
