Lollapalooza isn’t just an all-day event. There are after shows running late through the night to keep you jamming to your favorite acts from the festival. The great thing about these after shows is that they’re open to non-lollapalooza goers as well. So, if you missed out on seeing your favorite artist during the fest you can catch them at a music venue in Chicago during the weekend. Here are some of the must-see after shows featuring up-and-coming artists as well as audience favorites.
Passion Pit
Where: The Chicago House of Blues

This is the summer of Passion Pit. After three long years they’ve finally released their follow up album to Manners, with Gossamer. Passion Pit is known for their synth-pop and their latest album doesn’t disappoint. Start your Lollapalooza weekend off right by catching this band at the House of Blues.
Frank Ocean
Where: Metro Chicago
When: Friday, August 3
You couldn’t escape reading about Frank Ocean on the internet a couple of weeks ago when he bravely revealed that his first love was with a man on his tumblr. Then, he did a heart wrenching performance on Jimmy Fallon which soon led to the pre-release of his album, channel Orange on ITunes. Now, his album is one of the most critically acclaimed of the year. The former Odd Future member has a real talent for writing beautiful ballads, like “Thinking About You” and “Bad Religion” that will blow you away live.
Calvin Harris
Where: The Mid
When: Saturday, August 4
You can’t listen to the radio without hearing one of Calvin Harris’ songs. He’s one of the top DJs ruling the airwaves right now. Whether it’s his collaborative hit, “We Found Love” with Rihanna or his own, “Feel So Close” you can’t escape this electro pop making machine of a man. Catch him in his element at The Mid to keep your Lollapalooza spirits high.
Childish Gambino
Where: The Vic Theater
When: Saturday, August 4
He stars in one of the funniest shows on television, Community, but this actor has pulled a Drake (remember him as Jimmy in Degrassi?). His album, Camp, has been critically acclaimed for its fast lyrical zings chalk full of pop culture references. He just recently dropped a mix tape titled Royalty featuring guest raps by the likes of Tina Fey.

When: Sunday, August 5
Brooklyn duo Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly emerged as an indie favorite with their hit, “Bruises” back in 2008, that same single was featured in an IPod commercial. Since then, they released their second album this year, Something. Enjoy sweet indie pop gems like, “Met Before” and “Amanaemonesia” to wind down after a long three days of music jamming, sunburn and sweat.
