Blue Demons post-up the competition

Blue Demons post-up the competition
This year's DePaul women's basketball team isn't a running team or a team that will shoot the lights out every night. In fact, they don't really know what kind of team they are yet, despite being 21 games into the season. But one thing was certain on Wednesday night at McGrath Arena.… Post the First Comment

Hayward leads Marquette over Blue Demons

MILWAUKEE - Lazar Hayward often finds himself as Marquette's coach on the floor. All the Golden Eagles look up to the senior, but sometimes it's important he takes matters into his own hands. Hayward had 19 points and 14 rebounds and Marquette avenged an earlier loss to DePaul with an 80-69 victory over the Blue Demons on Wednesday night to extend its winning streak to three.… Post the First Comment

Connecticut grinds out win over Blue Demons

STORRS, Conn. - Coaching Connecticut is apparently not good for your health. George Blaney, who has been filling in while Jim Calhoun is on a doctor-ordered medical leave, told his team that after three consecutive losses, he was starting to feel sick. He felt a little better Saturday, after Jerome Dyson scored 20 points and Connecticut snapped a three-game losing streak by beating DePaul 64-57.… Post the First Comment

No. 1 Connecticut beats DePaul, wins 63rd straight

It was business as usual for top ranked Connecticut on Wednesday night at sold out McGrath Arena. The Huskies were victorious for the 63rd consecutive game, dating back to last year, as they cruised to a 95-62 win over DePaul. UConn (24-0, 11-0 in Big East) trailed DePaul 3-2 for 21 seconds in the first minute of the game, but quickly hit a three-pointer and never looked back.… Post the First Comment

Too little, too late for Demons at Seton Hall

NEWARK, N.J. - While it is still learning how to close out games, Seton Hall is finally turning the Prudential Center into a homecourt advantage. Bruszewski leads Irish over Blue Demons

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Becca Bruszewski wouldn't let fourth-ranked Notre Dame miss a beat when Lindsay Schrader went down with a sprained left ankle. Bruszewski scored 19 of her career-high 25 points as the Irish dominated the second half, beating DePaul 90-66 on Sunday.… Post the First Comment

Lenti likes his teams battle-tested, I like Lenti...

I came to two realizations when I saw DePaul's softball schedule: 1) I respect Coach Gene Lenti. 2) Teams don't schedule like they used to. Lenti has the "anyone, anytime, anywhere" attitude. Last season, his team played 12 teams that were ranked in ESPN's preseason Top 25, and this year they play eight preseason ranked teams, including the top three teams in the country in Washington, Alabama and Michigan.… Post the First Comment

DePaul fell behind early to No.9 West Virginia, and never caught up. DePaul student trots into the family business

DePaul student trots into the family business
Marcus Miller isn't your typical college student. The 20-year-old isn't spending his nights watching replays of Snooki getting punched in the face on MTV's Jersey Shore and he isn't hanging out at local bars. Instead he spends his evenings harness racing, and he is good at it.… 1 Comment

It's Millar time

It's Millar time
Senior thrower Brad Millar has a secret to his success, and it's not lucky socks or a special pregame ritual. It's something that gives some people nightmares -- high school math. "During my senior year in high school, I had a really hard math teacher," Millar said.… Post the First Comment
