MTV glorifies teen moms

Abstract:
What is MTV doing? With shows like "Teen Mom" and "16 and Pregnant," MTV is publicizing teen pregnancies, pregnancies out of wedlock, and teenagers struggling to even finish high school.

Throughout the first season of "16 and pregnant," America was introduced to four teens who were pregnant with their first child, and none of them were planned....

I agree that MTV should be about music, but if they are going to educate on pop culture, teen pregnancies is right there on top. Why not show the struggles and the lessons? Do you honestly think this show glorifies these girls? Hardly. Maybe this will open the eyes of teens across America that that's what happens when you play grown up. Morgan Freeman (who produces this show) is taking the place of those parents who won't discuss this topic with their kids... somebody has to do it!

I agree with you. I don't think that they're making them famous. And as I recall, before the shows began it made a public announcement saying "If you are a teen and 30 weeks pregnant to contact us." Or somthing like that so basicly it was up to the teens on the show to call up MTV or something. And all MTV is showing the world that it isn't easy and that these girls have a hard time raising a baby and going through their pregnacy. So, no, MTV isn't glorifing these teen moms.

I kind of have a thing for pregnant teens, I'm glad MTV decided to glorify these 'buns in the oven', If any of those babies needed a home I'd be glad to offer up my apartment.

This article was GREAT and brought up some wonderful points. I also hate to mention it, but they make it seem that when a white girl gets pregnant, it's glamorous. Of course when other people have babies, it only contributes to the sad epidemic. Poor "them", because they have rough lives and rough families in the ghettos. I don't get it! There are all these boyfriends with the thug wear that people CLAIM shouldn't be worn. Of course this only pertains to other groups, right? :I It's all staged, biased, BULL CRAP.
