At the Crossroads... Trading Company

Buying clothes on a college student’s budget isn’t easy, if there is even a budget for clothes. Fortunately, Crossroads Trading Company makes it a lot easier.

With locations in Lincoln Park and Wicker Park, Crossroads Trading Co. buys, trades and sells gently used men’s and women’s clothing, shoes and accessories. Not only can you get money for the clothes you don’t want anymore, you can also buy items from popular designers and retailers.

The reseller takes gently used items and sorts through them immediately, paying out, in cash, 35 percent of what they will sell the item for, or 50 percent in-store credit.

For more high-end items, sellers also have the choice to sell on consignment. “You get 50% of what we sell it for, but it has to sell,” said Lincoln Park floor manager Tauni Western.

Crossroads doesn’t accept everything that’s brought to them, but right now they’re looking especially for “spring trends, especially pastels. And we’re always looking for more men’s clothing,” said Western.

Even if you’re not ready to part with any items in your closet, Crossroads Trading Co. is worth a visit. Women’s shirts range from about $10-$20, dresses from $15-$30 from retailers like Gap, Urban Outfitters, J. Crew, Express and more. Men’s button downs all fall under $20.

If you’re looking to impress in some designer duds, pieces from Missoni, Elizabeth and James, Alice and Olivia, Miu Miu and many more can be found lining the store.

“We have a lot of great Diesel items right now, and a pair or YSL heels,” Western said. The $200 pumps still might be out of your price range, but a $35 Betsey Johnson dress might not be.

There’s something for everyone at Crossroads. “Once someone brought in a sombrero and I sold it,” said Western.

Crossroads Trading Co. is located at 2711 N. Clark St. in Lincoln Park and 1519 N. Milwaukee Blvd. in Wicker Park. No appointments are necessary to sell items.
